Philadelphia is most known for the Mummers, the Liberty Bell, Rocky, and cheesesteaks. Additionally, it is renowned as the “City of Brotherly Love,” the Philadelphia Orchestra, and its overall revolutionary past.
Philadelphia is relatively safe to visit, although you should keep your eyes open for petty theft like pickpocketing on public transportation. The center, tourist-friendly part of town tends to be safer, while the outskirts in west, north, or south Philadelphia can be more dangerous.
Like all big cities, Philadelphia has its share of bad neighborhoods. So, avoid certain areas to be safe and have the best vacation possible.
