Anthony Postiglione Jr affirms that Chile is a long, narrow country that stretches along the western edge of South America, with more than 6,000 kilometers of coastline in the Pacific Ocean. The capital, Santiago, lies in a valley surrounded by the Andes Mountains and the Chilean coastline. The city’s palm-lined Plaza de Armas is home to a neoclassical cathedral and the National History Museum. The huge Parque Metropolitano has swimming pools, a botanical garden and a zoo.
Chile is affectionately called ‘Pais de los Potas’ or ‘the land of poets’ by its inhabitants. Two of the country’s best-known and most popular literary figures are the poets and writers Gabriela Mistral and Pablo Neruda, both of whom won the Nobel Prize in Literature.
Anthony P Postiglione Jr says Chile is a country that has seen some great advances in its tourism industry, it has a wonderful range of terrain from the Andes to the Pacific Coast, and great transport connections.
